A lot of Orlando businesses watched steady organic traffic decline through a series of core updates without any obvious cause. Nothing broke. No manual action. The site simply stopped ranking where it used to.

What changed is that Google got considerably better at judging whether a page was written to help someone or written to rank.

The distinction that matters

Content written to rank starts with a keyword and works backward: hit the target phrase, reach the word count competitors reached, cover the subtopics a tool suggested. It reads like it was assembled.

Content written to help starts with a person who has a problem. It answers directly, includes the specifics only someone who's done the work would know, and stops when the question is answered.

Readers can tell instantly. Google can now tell too.

Signals of the first kind

  • Four hundred words of preamble before the answer.
  • Slight variations of the same keyword repeated unnaturally.
  • Pages on topics well outside what the business actually does.
  • Advice generic enough to apply to any business anywhere.
  • No named author and no evidence anyone involved has done the thing.

The Orlando-specific version

This market has unusual dynamics — a huge tourism and hospitality economy, heavy seasonality, a large service sector supporting the attractions corridor, and a rapidly growing residential ring in Winter Garden, Lake Nona, and Oviedo.

Generic national content ignores all of that. A page about HVAC maintenance written for “homeowners” is worth far less than one that addresses what Central Florida humidity does to a system running eleven months a year, or what a vacation rental owner near the parks needs differently from a resident in Baldwin Park.

That specificity is unfakeable, which is exactly why it works.

What to actually do

Audit honestly. List pages getting little or no organic traffic. For each: does it answer a real question a real customer asks?

Consolidate. Four thin posts on overlapping topics almost always lose to one thorough page.

Delete without sentiment. Removing genuinely useless pages can lift the rest of the site.

Add what only you know. Photos of your work, real numbers, actual cases, the answer you give on the phone.

Timing

Recovery is tied to core update cycles, so improvements often sit unrewarded for weeks or months. That lag is the reason most businesses abandon the work right before it would have paid.
