The business
UnderItAll Holdings LLC, based in Alpharetta, Georgia, makes custom-cut rug pads perforated for what it calls a scissorless install — the pad is cut and perforated so it can be sized to the rug without tools. The company bills it as the industry’s only scissorless rug pad.
Pads come in a thick quarter-inch and a thin eighth-inch, in rectangle, round, square and free-form shapes. Round pads are not perforated, which the store says plainly rather than leaving it to be discovered at delivery.
The made-to-order problem
A conventional store has a SKU per variant and a stock count behind it. Here there is no meaningful stock count, the number of possible sizes is effectively infinite, and every order triggers a cutting job. The storefront has to collect exact dimensions as the primary input rather than offering a size dropdown, and it has to set expectations about what happens after the order rather than after the shipment.
The operational promise is the differentiator
Orders placed before 2pm Eastern are cut and shipped the same day. For a made-to-order product that is a genuinely unusual commitment, and it is the single most persuasive fact the business has — because the obvious worry about custom cutting is that it will be slow. Shipping covers the US and Canada, with UPS for domestic delivery and Roadie for local Atlanta runs.
A promise like that only works if it is visible before the add-to-cart decision, not buried in a shipping policy that gets read after the fact.
A returns policy shaped around the product
Custom-cut goods are normally non-returnable, and a flat statement to that effect would be accurate and also quite alarming. The store handles it differently: damaged, defective or mismatched pads are reported within seven business days, customers are generally not asked to ship anything back, and if a replacement cannot be made the order is refunded in full.
Not asking for a return on a bulky, custom-cut item is the right call commercially — the freight costs more than the product — and it reads as confidence rather than as a loophole. For a first-time buyer hesitating over a non-standard purchase, that paragraph does a lot of work.
How the store is organised
- A Why UnderItAll page carrying the positioning, because the product category is one most people have never thought about.
- An Our Rug Pads page explaining the two thicknesses and what each is for.
- Shipping, returns and FAQ pages written for the made-to-order reality rather than copied from a generic template.
- A contact route for the enquiries a configurator cannot absorb.
